When it comes to the Tarot, many people are a bit unnerved when the Death card shows up in a spread. And some individuals will completely avoid Tarot cards in fear that the card of death will show up and cut their lives short. But these fears are completely unwarranted. The death card generally does not depict an actual physical death. In 99.9 percent of the cases, the death card means that change is coming, putting away the old and making room for the new. It can mean the death of a relationship or job that no longer serves you. It can mean that there is a destructive or negative habit or attitude within yourself that has to be done away with or put to death.. There are many such ways in which we can interpret the Death card that does not mean a physical death is going to occur. The only way in which the Death card can depict an actual death is if someone were getting a reading on their gravely ill relative or friend who had already been diagnosed by their doctor as terminal. Then the cards could certainly pick up on what the medical community already knows and discussed with the family; or in some cases, the cards may show what the doctor is about to tell the family about their loved ones condition after a battery of tests. The Tarot is not a medical tool, nor does it bring death and doom. It is a tool that is best used in areas of life that promote spiritual and personal growth.

So as you can now see, the rider who is death in the Tarot is not the Grim Reaper or the bringer of bad tidings. He is simply a messenger of change.

When it comes to the Tarot, many people have a lot of reservations and even fears. They imagine old women sitting at a table with a crystal ball predicting doom, death and despair for their unfortunate client. Others believe the Tarot to be some kind of satanic, fortune telling tool that goes against the will of God and brings demons to your door. The list could go on I'm sure of the suspicions and fears many have about the Tarot. But the truth is, the Tarot is none of these things. Tarot cards are less of a fortune telling tool and more of a guidance system. Their rich imagery tells a story and that story is the tale of each of our lives. The Tarot does stimulate the intuition of the psychic and therefore does give greater insight into current events and even glimpses what the outcome may be. But more importantly, it offers guidance and steps that we can take to improve our lives, avoid pitfalls and help us make better decisions. The Tarot is a well rounded tool that gives us insight and brings light into the darkness. It is not a satanic oracle that eclipses the light with its gloom and evil. "But what about that Death Card?" You may ask. Well, we'll talk more about that very feared card on tomorrow's blog.

As many of you already know, I am an author and like to dabble in various genres. My works span from poetry to horror to the metaphysical. It was recently suggested to me that perhaps I should put out my horror projects under a different author name, like many other writers have done. Authors sometimes create these new names because the consensus is that most people can't compute or handle a writer who dips his pen into too many subjects. Thus I had decided to take this sage advice and release my up coming book under a new name which was Devin Graves... I'm sure some of you remember the name from my blog.

I thought it would be fun to create an alter ego like some writers do and be a totally different person in the horror realm... But in the end... I hated it. It was enough work being one writer, let alone two. I trashed Devin Graves and sent him to the literary grave and reclaimed my work as my own. And as far as the sage advice goes, I say to blazes with it. I think people can wrap their brains around a writer who dips his pen in several different genres. Therefore I blog to you today, these confessions of a mad writer.

Ever since I was a kid, I had thoughts and ideas that were very pagan. I didn't know that they were pagan then because I was too young to know what a pagan was. As I got older, I found out that there were many ancient people's that had similar spiritual ideas that I had pretty much all my life. I have no idea where I got these thoughts from but they were my true nature none the less. Of course when I was exposed to mainstream religion later on in life, I was told that these things were evil and from the devil. But as time went on, I yielded more to my true self than to popular opinion. Thus little by little, over time, I began to come out of my spiritual shell. I think the last year was really the final mile to walk as I shed all vestiges of the spiritual past and became the individual I always truly was. The transformation had become official and compete this past weekend. Thus the world is a different place for me than it was even a week ago... and even the blog has changed.... again :-)

Needless to say, the corners of life have been swept clean and my authentic self is no longer mixed with ideologies that do not fit into the matrix of my soul. Anyone who has ever taken such a journey knows that it takes time to detoxify from the programming of fear based religion; especially when you were exposed to it at a very young age. But hey, the adventure is worth it... and what would we be as human beings without a mountain to climb or a dragon to conquer? Welcome to the Nocturnal Moonscape... I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.

Okay, so I said I wouldn't play around with blog titles anymore.... I lied :-)

The moon is nearly full, its pale tranquil light touches the earth when the dusk grows dark. Have you ever stood beneath the lunar radiance in the quite of the night and just let its beams wash over you? Have you ever imagined its blue, white energy seeping through your skin, your pours and cascading through every organ and cell of your body? This is called moon bathing, and the sense of peace, wholeness and health you will experience during and after the practice will amaze you. Take advantage of the coming full moon, and let it be something more than just a glow you occasionally see through your window.

We're all not the same, and one person's Holy Book can be another person's book to avoid. The thing I have found is that we do not all need to march to the beat of the same drum. With all the great books available today, a person can collect whatever books speak to them and make that their "holy books." It matters not if your holy books consist of ancient writings or a few books on Crystals and a copy of Good Night Moon... if it speaks to you and brings you peace, then it is holy to you.

For the last two evenings I have been meditating outside at nightfall and working with the nocturnal energies. This practice is somewhat like Tai Chi as I let the energies pass through me and I draw them into my own energy field to cleanse me of any blockages. It is such a peaceful feeling to become one with the twilight as the serenity of night time settles over the countryside. If any of you are energy healers, try making up your own nocturnal sessions in the calm of the evening shade and notice how it makes you feel. Draw in the energy of the night, moon and stars; it is an energy that has a feeling like no other. Even if you are not adept at working with energy, just go outside at night and breath in the serenity... take it into your mind, body and spirit and let it swirl within you and cleanse you of all fear, worry, negativity and blockages. You can even concentrate this energy into any part of your body that may need physical healing; there are no limits to this kind of practice...

Today I would like to share the song Welcome, from the band Shadow Theory. If your not familiar with this particular group, they are a hard rock/progressive metal band who have released an album with a haunted house theme. The Shadow Theory features vocal extraordinaire Devon Graves from Psychotic Waltz and Dead Soul Tribe. And if you never heard of Dead Soul Tribe, you need to get busy listening right away! Anyhow, I hope you enjoy the song... I think it's awesome indeed.

There are some ideas about the Divine Spirit, heaven, hell and the meaning of life that just seem out of character for a being that is supposed to be total and unconditional love. Could it really be that in the Bible, God said, "you shall not kill." And then turned around and told the Jewish people to slaughter all of the people of the promised land that he swore to give them? Did God really tell the Israelites to even kill the infants of those people by smashing them against a stone? Would an all loving God burn someone alive for all eternity in a lake of fire just because that person chose, "the wrong religion?" Does God really favor some people and some religions more than  others as some say? This list could go on and on, but you get the picture. Does not all this seem like man making God in his image and giving the Divine some of his less than perfect traits? What fearful or unnerving beliefs do you have about the Divine that may be man made instead of heaven sent?

There is no doubt that there are things in the night sky that defy explanation. Over the years, I have seen some of these strange objects myself. There are many opinions as to what they are; ranging from secret military crafts, beings from another planet, interdimensional beings and even angels and demons. There is no shortage of opinions when it comes to the topic of unidentified flying objects, and they certainly have been in the news a lot over the last couple of years. It seems they're popping up all over the world these days and really making their presence known.. What do you think they are?

Below is the Reiki Power Symbol, its meaning is; "Put all the power in the universe here." I have channeled Reiki energy into the symbol with the intention to heal... For anyone who may need healing, just meditate on the symbol or visualize it going into the part of your body that needs healing. Let us see what kind of results this experiment will yield. Happy healing!

I thought today we would do a little fortune telling on the blog. Using an ordinary deck of playing cards I have drawn the four of diamonds. Diamonds are the prosperity and fortune suit; thus this card is saying, be wise in business affairs today. Don't be so quick to sign on the dotted line, invest or make a deal that sounds too good to be true. When it comes to parting with your money today or trusting someone else to oversee it, be wise and think before you act. This is a good day to wait and, "get back to others" in a few days. Shop around when thinking of buying a new product, and be careful whom you lend large sums of money to... All in all, a good day to keep your money close to your wallet.

Yesterday I decided to put an EVP recorder App on my step daughter's ipad. For those of you who do not know what an EVP or EVP recorder is; it is simply a digital recorder which is used to try and catch the voice of a ghost or spirit in an attempt to communicate. So, while I am waiting for my ghost hunting equipment to arrive in the mail, I figured I would try to pick up some ghostly voices with the ipad EVP recorder.

I played around with the recorder for about a half an hour and did not receive any voice recordings from beyond. But then towards the end of the session I did pick something up. I asked if there were any spirits in the room and voice, that sounded female, said, "yes."

Needless to say I was excited about my success and tried to export the spirit voice recording onto my computer so that I could upload it online... but in the process, I ended up somehow restoring the ipad to factory settings. All was lost, including the EVP recording. The good news is that I was able to restore all of the Apps to the ipad this morning; but the EVP recording was gone. Better luck next time I suppose... and hopefully in the near future I will have something to share with you all.

Today I will be doing some online shopping to price and perhaps buy some ghost hunting equipment. I have had some very second and third rate tools in the past, but now I feel that it's time to amp up the hobby. As the weather turns warmer here in Upstate, NY I intend to get back to one of the side projects that I enjoy very much.. and that is looking for ghosts in creepy places!!!

And naturally, any findings will be reported here on The Mind's Eye...

Thursday, April 4, 2013

Yep, seems I'm always coming up with ideas for the blog. For those of you who have followed me from the beginning, you know the blog started out as, THE MIND'S EYE; and so it is to that original form that we return.

From the beginning I wanted the blog to be a place of creativity, spirituality and just whatever else floated through my "mind's eye." But being one that is so interested in spiritual things and the paranormal, it seems I always return to those elements on the blog. But now in coming full circle with this blogging thing, I just feel that I want to gently push the blog back into its original direction. Of course, the spiritual and the paranormal will always be a part of THE MIND'S EYE, but I also want to give the topics room to breath.

Other than being a very spiritual person, I also like to dip my toes into other things as well. Most of you know that I am an author, and my books range from metaphysical topics to poetry and horror. The general consensus is that most folks can't wrap their minds around a person who ventures into so many genres at one time... But to heck with the consensus! I say, here I am... and many of you have wrapped your minds around it from the beginning and have supported whatever is born of the muse... and I thank you all for that :-) Oh, and may I also say at this point that I am very slowly working on a music album. More reports on that later though...

So welcome, or rather, welcome back to the MIND'S EYE; a place that is spiritual, paranormal, poetic and just plain artsy and strange... And I promise I'll try not to fudge with the blog anymore after this; but I can't guarantee that :-)

Call me old fashioned; but I think man should still get his groceries with a bow and arrow. (This message has been brought to you by an old fashioned guy.)

Okay, so I got to bed late and am tired and foggy brained this morning. But I still think it's a wonderful blog :-)

What would you do if one day you were going about your daily business, and suddenly a massive structure descended from out of the sky and hovered over the earth? What if this structure housed the Christ, God or some other highly evolved beings that were responsible for putting us here. Or maybe this was just the moment we finally discovered that we were not alone in the universe... How would this effect your day?

I'm back after an extended vacation. I hope everyone who celebrated the Easter holiday had a nice weekend. Whether we look at the resurrection story of Christ as literal or metaphorical, we should all ponder the ways in which we can bring newness and resurrection into our own personal lives. It matters not what our religion is, we can all use a new beginning and a fresh start now and then. Sometimes we must rise up out of the tombs of the past and enter the light of the now.
