THERE ARE MEN TOO GENTLE TO LIVE AMONG WOLVES

Today on the blog I would like to share a video reading of the poem, There Are Men Too Gentle To Live Among Wolves, by the late poet, James Kavanaugh. I hope you will all listen to the reading and perhaps be inspired to look into some of Mr. Kavanaughs work; he was truly one of the greatest.

PUTTING OUR TRUST IN SOMETHING BIGGER

As the modern world seems to spin out of control, perhaps it is time that we all consider putting our trust in something bigger.

RELATIONSHIPS

In the modern age our relationships are suffering. Unfaithfulness, abuse, heartbreak and abandonment run rampant. But is this the way it's meant to be?

BIG GOVERNMENT AND THE QUESTION OF ETERNITY

All around the world, governments are squandering resources, over taxing the people, allowing the earth to become more and more polluted and allowing companies to add things to our food supply that is hazardous to the health of human beings. They pass bills that allow the very air we breathe to be poisoned with experimental techniques such as solar remediation. These things are not just happening in one country, but all across the globe. It's time these people be held accountable for their actions, and give a reason for why they do the things they do in the name of greed and elitism. Perhaps these individuals should be told that they too are mortal men and that one day they will leave this earthen plain and have to give an account for all they've done while living in this world. Most politicians that I have seen will speak the name of God but live like there's no such being in any dimension of reality. Perhaps someone should remind them that there is such a thing as universal justice. And we will all be weighed in the balance one day.

NONE OF US IS ABOVE THE OTHER

We should all love and respect one another. We should not betray our friends or play favorites among the people in our lives. We should forgive, and when we do wrong we should ask for forgiveness. We should not trample on another human being just to fill our hands or our pockets with more. Rich or poor, black, white, red or yellow; we are all the same and on the same journey of the soul. None of us is above the other.

TRUST

Sometimes in this world, we say goodbye more than we say hello. We lose more than we have gained. We give, but do not receive back. We love, only to be abandoned. But that is never an excuse to give up or be defeated. Everything has its purpose in the universe, and perhaps it is that you are following the divine plan and everyone else around you is quite oblivious to it. After all, how can we expect the light of spirit to shine forth from others when they give little or no thought to the concept of Spirit at all? Perhaps all those instances when life stumbles or falls short, it all has a purpose for our personal growth and maturity. Life on planet earth is the cosmic classroom for all of our souls. Who knows what lessons we are to learn here. Even when all else seems to fail you, trust God.

THE INNER ANGEL

The hermit card in the Tarot tells us to spend quiet time in meditation and contemplation. But it is also the card that tells us to follow our inner light and guidance. Many times in life, we may make a decision but something inside of us is telling us to do the exact opposite. In metaphysics, that still small voice within is the voice of our inner guardian angel that is guiding us along the path of life. When making any kind of decision, or even trying to decide whether we should trust a certain individual or not; it is always a good practice to picture our inner angel with his lantern held high. Which path is he telling us to take? What information or clues are we missing along the journey that can only be illuminated by divine insight?

BACK THEN

The old Orange Plaza Mall, in Middletown New York, stood from 1972 to 1992. It was a place that I grew up visiting on weekends and scurrying through during holidays to do Christmas shopping. Over time, the old mall became obsolete as new shops and stores began to crowd the landscape of our town. The orange Plaza became a place that I used to go to with my friends to a place where I walked alone with a hand held tape recorder dictating my poetry in my early writing days. It seemed with the fall of the old mall, life and Times had changed. This is a poem about those times... back then.

NIGHT VISITORS

When we see the faces of our deceased loved ones in dreams, are we visiting with them on a spiritual level on some other mental plane? Some say, absolutely. What do you think?

PRACTICING THE PRESENCE OF GOD

The Divine Spirit is unseen by mortal eyes, but not unknowable through the senses of the soul. It is the still small voice that always speaks to us, and guides us through the corridors of life. It is the happy coincidence that comes as an answer to our prayer, that we often look upon as mere luck. It is the silence and beauty of nature that beckons us to mimic its tranquility. Evidence of Spirit is everywhere in our world, we just have to open our eyes and see with the sight that is beyond the physical.
