It is hard to analyze your way to God; it is easier to be open and to be inspired intuitively.

THE LIFE AND TEACHINGS OF JESUS
The beauty and sublimity, the humanity and divinity, the simplicity and uniqueness, of Jesus’ life on earth present such a striking and appealing picture of man-saving and God-revealing that the theologians and philosophers of all time should be effectively restrained from daring to form creeds or create theological systems of spiritual bondage out of such a transcendental bestowal of God in the form of man.

DON'T WOUND THE GOOD PEOPLE IN YOUR LIFE
Too many times I see people hurt and discard the truly good people in their lives. They take them for granted, say hurtful things and marginalize their feelings. Yet, the people whom they have a more shallow relationship with, never receive this kind of treatment. Be good to the good people in your life, they are a blessing. Don't treat them like the poor abused dog, who always returns loyally and affectionately to lick the master's hand, only to be struck in the face again. Because eventually that loyalty will recede, and the kindness will evaporate. Then what will you do when the person who truly loved and valued you is no longer there?

ANGEL MESSAGES
In my work, I generally send out an angel message every Monday morning to those individuals I am working with in counseling, and also, those I have worked with in the past. These angel messages are little insights that I glean in meditation to share with others. And so I thought, what a wonderful idea to perhaps share these angel messages, every Monday on the blog. I hope that they inspire you and perhaps bring a bit of light into your personal life.
ANGEL MESSAGE FOR THIS WEEK: When it comes to the Art of Living life on planet Earth, there are those things that you would like to do and those things that you are obligated to do. But sometimes, those obligations are self-imposed. You "do" because you think you have to. It would behoove each individual to look at their life through more realistic eyes. What are the things you absolutely have to do, and the things you do out of sheer guilt and habit. Once you start to break free of the illusions of, "having to do something just for the sake of doing it," you will find more time in your schedule to do the things that you would like to do. And in doing this, you will find more joy in life. You are not here to be a slave to anything or to another person's dictates and whims. You are here to create, love, grow and mature as a person and a spiritual being. You have a deep desire to do certain things that you love for a reason. Don't let the world or other people take those things away from you or diminish them in any way. Be who you are, do what you love.

THE IDOL OF OUR IGNORANCE
I've heard it said that man will never rise higher than his idea of God. Thus, if God is believed to be a man of war, or a deity of prejudice, then we will mimic those traits. It only takes a glance at our politics, religions and the direction the world is headed in to realize that we have made idols of ourselves and our own hatred, ignorance, greed and ego. Can any sane or rational person truly say that these are the things that God would stand for?

THE MYSTICAL CONTEMPLATION OF LOVE
God is love - If this statement is true, then God exist in the love that we feel for our families and friends. It then must mean that God exists and dwells in the love we feel for our pets, sunrises, sunsets and the way the wind gently blows through the treetops during the peaceful evening hours. If God 'IS' love, then that means that deity is present all around us, and within us when we look upon anything or anyone with the feelings of gratitude, warmth and love...
How might it change your day if you paused to acknowledge the presence of God in all of those little moments when you were feeling love for something or someone?

THE WOOD CARVED MONK
A fun find at the antique store this weekend; a wood carved monk contempating the scriptures. Anyone who knows me knows that I have thing for the monastic life... Perfect!
Perhaps we should all take a lesson from the wood carved monk and be a bit more reflective on the things of God...

DESTRUCTIVE SEFISHNESS
We live in a world today where people feel entitled to do or have whatever they want without question. And if they do not get their way, they often explode with anger, behavioral episodes and even violence. I heard a story the other day about a person walking into a chiropractors office, and demanding to be seen on the spot without an appointment. The episode lasted almost two hours and was quite horrifying and traumatic to all involved. If we turn on the news we see stories of road rage violence, someone not driving the way someone else wants them to drive, so they open fire and people are injured or worse. We don't have to look very far to see people coming to blows or threatening one another over wearing mask during a pandemic or not wearing masks. What is society becoming?
I wrote the other day on the blog about not following the herd. And this is a glaring example of what not to do. Just because we see other people acting this way doesn't mean it's okay for us to do the same. Perhaps it is time to really sit and meditate on what loving our neighbor really means.

WHY SUFFERING?
The great spiritual Masters and ancient peoples understood that there would be suffering in this life and in this world. They understood that our trials we're like a fire that refined us, making us stronger and wiser. But in our modern society, we believe that everything should be easy and that the Law of Attraction should give us everything we want. We have painted over reality with a broad and deceptive brush of wishful thinking and denial. Perhaps this is why so many have a weak constitution and are riddled with such fear. Because we've never sat down and pondered the big questions or understood that everything in this life is impermanent. Every life will be touched buy trials, suffering and eventually death. We need to realize this and come to a better understanding on how to accept this ultimate reality. These ponderings will either make us stronger and more firm in our faith, or we will continue to avoid them and crumble when we see them looming over the horizon of our lives.
Is pleasure—the satisfaction of happiness— desirable? Then must man live in a world where the alternative of pain and the likelihood of suffering are ever-present experiential possibilities. ~ The Urantia Book, (3:5.14)

DON'T FOLLOW THE HERD
When you see a great number of people all doing the same thing and influencing one another, it is a good idea to turn around and go in the opposite direction. The world has a way being influenced by the loudest voices in the room. And then everyone gathers around a certain cause with a tribal type of mentality. And generally, the whole movement usually ends in disappointment or disaster. It doesn't matter if someone claims to be enlightened, woke or whatever catch phrase they use to make themselves seem higher then everyone else. Don't follow them or the crowd that gathers at their feet. All you have to do is turn on the TV or go on the internet and you will see dozens of groups all screaming out their version of the truth. But what if none of them are right?

THE INNER SANCTUARY
The Mind's Eye blog, has been revamped, and is now The Inner Sanctuary. In mysticism, the inner sanctuary is that quiet place within, where you meet with, commune or just sit in silence in the presence of the Divine. With all of the turmoil in the world, and all of the many angry and fearful voices always calling out to us; I thought it might be a good idea to rebirth and rename the blog. And to make it a place where peace can rule, common sense can be pondered, and all of us can find a place of mental and spiritual rest that will help us get back to ourselves. Because in getting back to ourselves, we get back to our connection with God. Christ said, the Kingdom of Heaven is within you. Welcome to The Inner Sanctuary.

CHRISTIANS IN HELL?
I'm seeing a lot of Christians on the internet saying that they died and went to hell. Many claim that most Christians are going to hell and they've had visions of believers being tormented in the fire. There is much that could be said about this, too much to mention in a blog post.
However, would God create the heavens and the Earth, and design this planet so carefully to sustain so many life-forms, do miracles in people's lives, and send Christ in the world to die for our sins only to discard us so easily. As one Christian said, she went to hell in her near-death experience because there was one person in her life that she did not forgive for a wrong done. Is the love of God so easily lost when the scriptures clearly state that none of us are perfect and all will sin and fall short of the glory of God?...
Something doesn't feel right about all of this. (Podcast coming soon on this topic.)

THE SECRET PLACE WITHIN
You can't give someone a relationship with God, or teach them communion with the Divine through religious laws, doctrines and dogmas. God can only be known and experienced in the secret place of your own heart!
