In the Sufi tradition, heaven and hell are not geographical places. They are states, or condition of the Soul's existence, in the life after death. Their descriptions in the Holy books are said to be representations of an inner fact., ie a person's character, state of mind and consciousness. Your inner state of being is paving the way to your experience in the hereafter.
