WRITING

My thoughts on writing during the break were interesting, yet it was ground I have covered in my thoughts before; and that is, what does it mean to be a writer? In todays society, there is a lot of competition and people looking for that one big break in their careers, and it is easy to get caught up in that mindset. Yet whenever I find dollar signs and bigger sales being my motivation, my creativity suffers and I produce work that lacks in quality. Thus for me, I guess I am a true meat and potatoes writer who must write what comes out of the muse and nothing more or nothing less. Popularity, sales and best seller lists have to take a backseat to personal satisfaction and the creative process. It has to be for the love of the art, or it just doesn't float in my world. My philosophy is, painters paint; but if you tell him what to paint every time and do not let him express his own spirit in his art, then that art becomes less of a joy to the artist. Therefore, the days of me trying to tap out projects that will meet a certain popular market demand are long gone.. And unfortunately, this what I have spent the spring and summer this year doing, trying to be more marketable in the high ranking genres of the writing world. I have laid that to rest however, and have returned to zero... For me, this is about personal fulfillment and touching the few souls who may wish to read my work. Everything else is just mind clutter... And besides, you never know what will catch on in the world of books; sometimes writers surprise themselves... Cheers.

BECOMING

Good morning everyone, and thanks for the welcome back messages.. As you may have already noticed, I will be blogging every other day or so... and sometimes even every day; it depends what's swirling around in the mind at the time. One conclusion that I came to during the break was that it is tough being a daily blogger...LOL.. It's not always easy to come up with an inspirational thought every single day. And sometimes I just want to share a piece of music or one of my poems or whatever... so the blog will be more versatile from this point onward. After all, I'm a writer who is spiritual, not a guru who is a writer; even though I do have my guru tendencies :-)

As far as my spiritual reevaluations go; you could say that I have awakened a bit more in my own personal journey. Ever since I was a kid I had spiritual ideas that were very pagan-ish. It wasn't until I was older that I realized that some of my personal beliefs and practices were actually ancient pagan rituals and beliefs... kind of odd when one thinks about it and makes me wonder if perhaps we all haven't been here before as some believe. But none the less, I have embraced more of my inner self and what it believes; an emerging of another kind one could say. Where as before, I generally believed in the masculine aspect of deity, I know embrace both the God and the Goddess and believe that nature, life and belief is out of balance without both of them... a broken family if you will. So during the break and even as I type... I am... becoming.

EMERGING

After a long and contemplative break since Memorial day, I have returned to the world of the internet. After the holiday weekend I decided to break from my usual routine and reevaluate some things in life... things such as spirituality, the future direction of my writing and other projects that I plan to launch in the weeks to come. I feel that it is a time for change in life; although I am not really changing, but getting more in touch with my own true nature. We will delve into a bit of these changes in the days to come... stay tuned and thanks for reading.
