THE HUDSON VALLEY ZOMBIE INVASION

Today I will be going to a local book signing, to support a fellow local author who has written a zombie apocalypse novel. If you have a love for flesh eating ghouls, as I do, you might want to check out Hudson Valley Zombie Apocalypse by Linda Zimmermann... And in the days to come, I just might have some news about my own zombie project that has been brought back from the dead.... (pun intended.) Have a great weekend.

THE GOLDEN LIGHT

Take the time to sit quietly today and meditate; close your eyes and imagine yourself rising up into a soft golden light. Stay within that light for a few moments, and just know that this light is from the universal source of all knowledge, healing and love. Let the light wash over you and through you... let the light bring to you any gift that it wants to share. Notice what you feel. This meditation is very simple but very powerful.

MORE FORTUNE COOKIE WISDOM

If we think others are foolish for what they believe, then aren't we ourselves acting foolish?

THE CHALLENGE OF HUMANITY

In a society that is supposed to be more technologically advance, more scientific and even more enlightened on some issues, why is it that we see so much crime, war and violence? Why does hatred run wild and high ranking political officials live in such states of dishonesty and greed? One would think that man was digressing rather than progressing if we were to observe his actions in a controlled laboratory study. These conditions exist because man has lost his way, he has separated himself from his spiritual source and has tried to govern himself as his own deity. When we have no relationship with the higher intelligence, we are like plants with no roots, hence we cannot draw nourishment from the earth which sustains us. If humanity would reach out and take hold of the hand that ultimately gave him being, and open his soul to that higher soul; we would see a vast difference in our behavior. But the challenge in taking this vital step is not to create God in our own image, thus giving birth to a society that persecutes or murders those whose beliefs may differ from our own. The challenges of man are many, but we can begin to conquer them one at a time... if we will but reach back towards the Divine.

A CURIOUS THOUGHT TO PONDER

If there is an absolute truth in the universe, then why is it that everyone's truth is different?

THE WORLD OF SPIRITS

The world of the spirit is all around us, but we cannot see it with our natural eyes. However, if you close your eyes, go deep within, and reach out with that part of you that is purely ethereal; you will sense that great energy of spirit life in the air around you. And sometimes when you ask a question, the answer will come immediately back as if someone were speaking to your mind. This form of meditation can be used as a kind of prayer to commune with angels and even the Divine. It is the stuff that mediums make their living with, and anyone can do it if he applies himself.

Know Peace

I saw a bumper sticker the other day that read; "Know God, know peace. No God, No peace." How true these words are, for there is no greater peace than truly knowing that someone has your back. And that peace is even more profound when that someone is the Divine Spirit that inhabits all things.

WORK

Many people run through life, going from one task to another. They always complain about how busy they are and that their work is never done. But do these individuals take the time to do the work that is most important in life; and that being the work of the soul. We can whisk through life and busy ourseves with a million activities, but if we fail to take even a few minutes each day to meditate, pray or simply reflect on the bigger issues beyond this material world; then our lives become a vibration with no cause or a ray of light with no destination. The human spirit was meant to be expressed, not simply held prisoner until it is released at the hour of death. Look up from your labors today, even just for a moment and think higher.

On Immortality

If there is no life after death, then every religion on the planet has been wrong. Could mankind have been that delusional throughout the centuries? Could we have made up this fairytale and fooled ourselves into believing it is true? Could so many cultures, separated by time and oceans have come up with this same fantasy of man's immortality? There are those who do not believe in such concepts; but I believe that man has this notion of eternity because the Divine has planted within his soul the dream and reality of life everlasting.

The Mystic Life

The Complete Christian Mystic by Evelyn Underhill; a must read for anyone who wishes to delve deeper into the mystic life and experience.  The Christian Saints were remarkable people, and they did some very incredible and documented feats of spiritual power. I think there is a lot we can all learn from them, regardless of our spiritual path.

INSTANT GRATIFICATION

In a world of instant gratification, is it any wonder we have a form of spirituality without morality. We look to manifest our material desires while believing that the universe is impartial to our actions. We believe that we can conduct ourselves in any manner that we like, and we will still be rewarded if we just focus with enough intent. This seems to be a microwave spirituality, for it matters not what the content of our meal is, it will be hot and ready within minutes… and that is all that counts. We have lost sight of the spiritual path being a lifelong pursuit in which we discipline ourselves to be better individuals. We think not where we will end up in time and eternity by not practicing the presence of love, patients and kindness. But rather we think only of the here and now, and what possessions we wish to hold next; and we will crush anyone who gets in our way… Is this really what the spiritual path was meant to be?

Embracing The Divine

To embrace a relationship with the Divine is to have peace and purpose. Human beings were not met to go it alone; walking through the shadows of life’s challenges with no hope or no help.  How much better do we cope with our struggles when we know someone is there for us and loves us unconditionally? What better balm is there to soothe our fears than the absolute assurance, that no matter what, everything will be alright? No other source can give us this kind of assurance and faith than the power that is above all else. And when we embrace that power, we can stand confidently amidst the storm and say, “all will be well.” Even in the face of our own mortality we can know serenity as we echo the words, “where is thy sting O death?” The terrors of the world are but shadows when the light of heaven shines upon our path.

Here Is The News... Brought To You Buy...

Every morning when I awaken and look at the new, it is riddled with death, crime and war. Crooked politicians smile and wave while other crooked politicians expose their commrad's lies. Gas and food prices continue to rise and no one seems to desire to stop the insanity by using our resources here at home. One of the headlines this morning even tells us that the experts are warning us that the risk of heart attack increases when we set our clocks forward in the spring. It appears that even our clocks have serious health risks these days. Then the commercials come on, all the bad news brought to us by pharmaceutical companies who show us what diseases are on the rise and why we need their pill. Is it any wonder why the minds of many people are in a dark place?

We need a spiritual revelotion on planet earth; a revolution of prayer, common sense and doing the right thing. When will all of the good and honest people rise up and begin to take the wise and peaceful steps necessary to stop the insanity, war and fear in our world?

Bullying

Because you don't know what's in another person's heart or mind:

The boy you punched in the hall today. Committed suicide a few minutes ago. That girl you called a slut in class today. She's a virgin. The boy you called lame. He has to work every night to support his family. That girl you pushed down the other day. She's already being abused at home. That girl you called fat. She's starving herself. The old man you made fun of cause of the ugly scars. He fought for our country. The boy you made fun of for crying. His mother is dying. You think you know them. Guess what? You don't.

(If you know someone who is a bully, share this message with them and discuss the psychological damage that bullying can cause others.)

To Be or Not To Be

If there is no absolute truth, then the universe is random.. If the universe is random, our lives have no meaning. We are then, nothing more than bacteria drifting through space on a rock. When we look at life as being just a game of chance, we lose our ultimate identity; and that is to become divine.

The Ultimate Source Of Power

I have studied the power of the mind for many years, and have seen incredible things happen. There is no doubt that we human beings have latent abilities within us that many of us have never even thought about tapping into. But the fact remains, no matter how skilled we are at exerting certain metaphysical abilities, we are not God. Sooner or later in life we will all run up against a certain challenge that will just not go away, despite our best efforts. So where do we turn when all else fails and no one else can move the mountain of burden that blocks our way to peace and happiness? I assure you, these are the times when we all need a support system that is bigger and wiser than we are. These are the times when we will need a power source that is infinitely greater than what we have within ourselves. These are the times when we need a personal relationship with the Divine Spirit who knows no limits.

Meditate On The Divine

When we meditate on the infinite power and goodness of the Divine Spirit, it transforms us from the inside out.  Even challenges in the material world will loosen their grip on our lives and fall away. The love of God is like a flame that melts away all conditions that seem to contradict its benevolent nature; and that love is present with you and within you at this very moment. Reflect upon this truth today, and your life will begin to exude serenity and success.

Contemplating The Divine

In contemplating the existence of the Divine, we must realize that how we view the subject in question will directly influence our emotional life. If we see the Divine as angry and judgmental, we will be apt to live our lives in fear and dread. We will in this case, always have a looming fear of the burning lake of fire, hence finding no peace or comfort in the concept of God. But what if our God is too loving? What if all rewards in the afterlife are the same no matter how we live our lives? Could this not possibly lead to a mindset that even if we commit murder or some such heinous act that it is perfectly alright in the eyes of Divinity?

What if our God is just an impersonal energy that has no self-consciousness or awareness? Might we also have a loosening of morals because we will not have to render an account of our actions to anyone at the end of our lives? And might we also then begin to feel alone in the universe and give into depression and feelings of hopelessness? If we examine the world around us closely, we will find that traces of all of the above are alive and well in society today. I have seen a great many people stand up and make intelligent and even angry arguments for their impersonal God. But then later on, they have all surfaced with feelings of loneliness and a pointless existence. After all, returning to the infinite energy source and just being like the wind, conscious of nothing, seems a bleak and empty eternity for such individuals. What might we find out about ourselves when we contemplate our own ideas about the Divine?

Personal Information On The Web

We all have public profiles on the web for one reason or another. Facebook is among the most popular sites on the web where people re-connect with old friends or promote themselves as a public figure. But this morning I ask, is it wise to put every thought that crosses our minds on such sites? Is it a good idea to let the world know where we live, and post our every move throughout the day on such a public forum? I know that there are privacy settings, but many people do not use such safety features and advertise their lives like it was the Truman show. I am all for the freedom of speech and expression; but is it safe  or even healthy to let the world gaze into your life and mind at any time they wish? We have seen problems with internet stalkers arise from such public sites, and many companies will not even hire an individual based on what is displayed on their Facebook page. I am not saying it is either right or wrong to post our entire lives on the internet... But does the world really need to know what we had for dinner last night, what kind of man or woman we prefer and how hard somene partied over the weekend? When is too much information too much information on the web?
