Thoughts To Ponder

It is interesting to note that the simplest cell on planet earth is still so complex, that science is not sure how all of the components for life just happened to come together in our humble beginnings. Think of it this way; all of the parts that would go into making a 1992 Ford Taurus, are actually far less complicated than the chemical make up of the most simple cell. So if we took all of the parts of the Ford Taurus, fully assembled, and put them in a feild very close to one another; it would still be impossible for time, climate or condition to assmble those parts and make a perfectly built Taurus. If we took all the chemicals that go into making up a cell or a strand of DNA, and poured them in a feild, those chemicals would most likely begin to break down and decay before they could ever assemble in the precise amounts to even start to resemble life. The elements are not kind, and they would certainly begin to delute, dry up or absorb our life building chemicals before random chance could somehow bring them together in such a mind staggering fashion as we see in cellular composition. Now we begin to appreciate the complexity and questions that surround the origins of life on planet earth... What do you think?

Project News

I regret to inform any folks who may have been looking forward to the zombie novel, that the project has been cancelled. I have attempted to write novels in the past, but I am always pulled away by some metaphysical/spiritual idea that seems too big to hold inside. I'm a writer of spiritual material, I suppose this is my calling and job in this life... So I guess you're all stuck with me and my metaphysical philosophies for the long haul. This is not to say that I will not put out shorter works of poetry and short stories that may have a scary edge to it; but my longer works will always be in the genre where my heart has made its home... :-)

Let Your Imagination Free

Do something creative today: Take five minutes to write a quick poem, paint or draw a picture or just let your mind roam free in a wild daydream. Whatever floats your boat and makes you want to be creative, do it. Your life will feel much more enriched once you let that part of yourself free to express its greatness.

For Love Or Money?

I was recently asked why I write, for the love of it or the money. My answer was simple, I write because I love it, all else is a secondary blessing. Many years ago when I used to write lots of poetry and short stories, I enjoyed every moment of it and took great pleasure in my craft. I was getting published in anthologies and magazines; I wasn't getting a ton of money back in my humble beginnings, but I was happy. Then someone suggested that I should get more serious about the financial part of writing... and so I did. I began to write stories and poems with popular themes, trying to carve out a bigger payday in the market. I started getting rejection letters by the dozens, and even magazines who had published me in the past wouldn't touch my new work. What had happened? I wasn't writing from the heart anymore, I was writing from the wallet; therefore my writing suffered and felt forced. My work began to be a shadow of what it had been, and no one in their right mind would have wanted to publish it.

I then put creativity on hold, and decided to get my priorities straight. It turned out to be a long break, but when I did return to writing I did the task out of love and desire for the written word. It was a lesson to me, and one I will never forget, and that is; heart and soul are everything. Whatever you do in life, do it from the heart and your work will be aglow with your passion. People will notice this and then the rewards will begin to come. There are some who may disagree with this philosophy, and say that we cannot live on our passion. But I ask you, when was the last time you purchased a product from a manufacturer that had shoddy workmenship? Did you return to that manufacturer and give him more business, or did you find someone who took pride and care in making their product? Assembly line mentality will always show in the end and eventually no one will want to buy your inferior material. But taking care to put out a product that you believe in and will stand by no matter what...this will always pay off in the end.

Take A Walk On The Spooky Side

As I work on the horror novel and also await the release of the runic haiku book; why not suggest to the readers of this blog some of my horror poetry! It's the best of best worlds and also shows that I am no stranger to the spooky side..

More On The Runes

The runes truly are a mystical stone. Many people use them for divination, self counseling and even in magick rites. Some have said that the runes always speak to us from the depths of our own hearts when we use them in any meditation practice, and I have always found this to be true. I first discovered the runes back in 1994, and I have to say, whenever I read the runes for any purpose; I always find their message more than accurate. I personally have found the runes to be one of the most effective divination tools that man has ever been blessed with. They are not scary and forboding, so one should have no fear when thinking of taking up the runes. If you come across a particular book that seems dark or creepy, discard it. There are many authors who desire to interpret the runes in some strange and fearful manner, but there are many more authors who use the runes to lift us up. No divination or self counseling tool should be designed to put apprehension in our hearts and minds; this is always counter productive. A true oracle will always give you wisdom and light, and if there is trouble ahead it will tell you how to avoid it. So with all that being said, perhaps you would like to put your fears and doubts away and cast the runes today.

New Book Coming Soon

My new book, Taking Up The Runes, will be out soon. The new offering will be a book of haiku poetry based on the Viking runes. I have taken each runic symbol, both upright and reversed, and written a haiku that corresponds with their ancient meaning. I have also ascribed to each rune a short divinatory meaning so that the book can also be used for rune casting. The folks over at Gypsy Shadow Publishing have done a great job on the book and it will be very appealing to the eyes both inside and out. Taking Up The Runes is a very unique little book that should appeal to both haiku enthusiasts and rune casters alike.

Don't Be A Legend In Your Own Mind

When we think we know everything, it soon becomes apparent that we know nothing. To be open minded and humble are the best policies in life.

Break Time Is Over

After a crazy week that did not allow for much writing, or blogging for that matter; I am ready to get back in the saddle this coming Monday. I was able to put the final touches to chapter three of the new book last week however, and will be delving into chapter four this week. I am hoping to have The Fourth Horseman out by mid summer or early fall.

We Often Choose Our Friends For The Wrong Reasons

Who would you rather have as a friend in life; the wealthy man who looks good in photos, has made a name for himself but lacks depth of Character. Or... the poor man, who lives in a small house, works 9 to 5 and can hardly make ends meet; but will offer you kindness, compassion and loyalty. It is strange that some people will choose to be companions with good looks, money, fame and popularity rather than someone who is authentic and caring.

Twitter Troubles

Good morning all; I just wanted to inform everyone that Twitter has emailed me and said that someone had been hacking into my account. I'm not sure who or why, but I had to change my password. If anyone has seen any strange or rude comments on Twitter that were supposedly from me, please ignore them. The issue has been dealt with and we shouldn't have anymore problems.

Thanks

I Believe

Have you ever wondred what happens at the moment of death, or if you really have a guardian angel? If so, then you need to read I Believe by Patti Roberts. It will take the sting out of any fears you may have about the afterlife.

They're Saying Bad Things About You On The Internet

I received an email last night from a young man who informed me that some folks we're saying some very bad things about me on Twitter... My response to this; To each their own I say, and I bless any indivduals who may wish to hurl rotten eggs my way. After all, this is the internet, and we all know how that can be. Someone once asked me what I thought about all of the rude and vicious comments we often see posted on the world wide web. I told him that if some people needed to let off steam by tapping out a few harsh words on a keyboard, then they should have at it. It is far better to type out a nasty comment then to purchase a gun and take one's aggressions out in a far more heinous manner. When seen in this light, what more can one say about the matter?

A Lazy Day... And Zombies

It's Sunday, there are no profound thoughts or writing updates today. This is the day where we all become lazy bums and just wait for Monday to arrive. I am looking forward to jumping back into the book though... I love writing. Is it strange that writing a book about walking corpses should make a person this happy? Ponder that deepness as you go throughout your day. :-)

Secret Affairs

Upon checking my email this morning, there was a very strange email in my spam folder. The email was promoting a site that allowed married people to find and have an affair with other married individuals. This is not the first time I have receive such a thing via email; and I personally find it disturbing that someone would even promote such a thing. It seems that what was once held as sacred is sacred no more. It is fashionable and acceptable to have secret affairs these days. I personally cannot join the modern parade of people that say such things are natural and normal. Maybe my way of thinking is outdated and frowned upon by some... but I would rather hold fast to my personal morals and treat others with respect. Some folks really do need to rethink their actions; after all, we do eventually reap what we sow.

Better Late Than Never

Why such a late post today? I purchased a new computer last night, then returned it this morning and got something different. We all love technology, but we hate to have to struggle with it.

Just Do It

Many people have ideas for a book, a painting or some other creative project. They always say, "some day I'm going to..." But why sit on your creativity, it is your heart and soul wanting to express themselves. Today is the only day that we have, so instead of putting things off until some unknown future day, start your project right now. It doesn't matter if you have all the details worked out or not, just take the plunge and begin. You might be surprised how ideas will begin to form and pour out of you once you put your hand to the task. Make today worthwhile by doing something you always wanted to do. No more excuses my friend... just do it!

Protect Your Ideas

Creative ideas are like babies in the womb; they must be protected from the outside world until it is their time to be born, This is why it is never good to talk extensively to others about new inspirations that may come into our minds. When we expose an idea too soon, it can lose mental energies and be robbed of vital nutriants; thus it will die in the womb of our imagination. The same thing holds true for other ventures and dreams that we may have in life. It is best to keep them covered and let them be born at their proper time. It is better to keep a thing in the shadows and build, than to squander its strength in conversation and never produce the product. Sheild your ideas from the outside world until they are strong enough to survive on their own. The dangers are many if they are exposed prematurely.

BLOG CHANGES

Dear friends and followers of my Blog; Please note that there have been some changes made to my Blog recently. The Blog is no longer Metaphysical Concepts, but is now, THE MIND'S EYE... (The Official Blog Of Author P.J. Caiden)

Why the changes?  As I branch out as an author, I felt it would be more suitable to have a blog name that does not seem to evoke one certain genre in the writing field. Fear not, I will still be putting out plenty of spiritual/metaphysical work, but there will also be the occasional novel sprinkled into the mix. I have a lot of good story ideas that I want to put out there for people to read. I feel that now is the time to spread my creative wings and be able to go where the muse leads me. I hope you will all continue to follow my Blog, there is a lot of interesting projects and even guest bloggers coming in the near future.

Peace...

Updates On The Undead

The zombie novel is coming along well, I am pleased with how it is unfolding thus far. Chapter 1 is complete and Chapter 2 is well under way, it may even be completed today. I'm excited to see how it will do once it hits the market in the future. I want this book to be the ride that zombie fans have always wanted, but have only gotten small doses of in the genre so far. The book should be crawling out of its tomb sometime this summer. Stay tuned.

This Is Who You Are

In yesterday's Blog, we were asked to think about what defines us as an individual. If you pondered this question, what did you come up with? Did you choose your physical appearance? Then what happens when you get older and lose your youthful appeal, and your muscle tone doesn't look quite the way it does now? Did you choose sports? What will happen when the fans stop cheering? After all, you won't play forever. Did you choose education? What will happen when you encounter a challenge in life that your education has not prepared you to handle?

All of the above things are fine in and of themselves. But when we indentify with only physical and natural things, we are living a half life. How many people who seemed to have had it all have taken their own lives, or became addicts because they said they felt empty and alone in life? There is a void in every soul that only spiritual things can fill, we can throw all of the money, sports and possessions into that void that we want... but it will never be filled. Thus, we can become extreme in our behavior as we seek for the next big thrill in our lives. It is an endless cycle that many people go through over and over again. I challenge you to identify yourself with the higher things of life this week. See yourself as more than just flesh and blood, and give your soul the food that it craves. Take ten minutes out of your day and turn off the television and meditate, read a book or just commune with the Divine in your own way.... It will make a world of difference in your life, and in who you are.

What Defines You?

When you think about yourself, what would you say defines you as an individual? Think about this question throughout your day today. Make a list if you wish, you may come up with more than one thing. We will weigh some of the possible answers in the balance tomorrow.

He's Still The Same Old Fool

Many people have the habit of freezing another person's mentality in time. Have you ever seen a person run into someone they haven't seen in many years and say something like, "I went to school with him and he's a real moron." Meanwhile, it has been thirty to fourty years since they last saw "the moron." Some people seem to think that nobody can change or evolve but themselves. They see themselves as growing, succeeding and evolving, but they somehow see the other fellow as he was in the eighth grade. In reality, it is the judgemental person's mentality that is stuck. He or she sees the world as it was when they were in grade school or college. This is a sad state of affairs, because such a person will never get to know anyone for who they really are or what they have become. Life is then stagnent, and always stays the same... after all, nothing or no one has changed except for themselves right? I think it would be a good exercise for us all, the next time we get a superiority complex, to check up on who has stayed the same; the other person, or ourselves. We just might be surprised at what we find.

Your Body Is A Temple

If your body is a temple of the spirit, and it certainly is. Then you are a walking, talking sacred place. You are a church, you are a synagogue, you are that place in which the Divine Spirit dwells. Meditate on that fact throughout the day, and see how it makes you feel by sunset.

Doing What You Love

Many times in life we do certain activities in hopes that we will profit from them. And this naturally is a good and wonderful thing. But what if we done something just because we love doing it? Sometimes the greatest return on our efforts is just to know that we accomplished something that was important to us. When I first began writing, I did it just for the love of creating. My philosophy was, that if just one person read my work and enjoyed it, then the piece had served its purpose. But since those days, my audiance has grown and new opportunities keep presenting themselves. Little by little, things are growing and expanding without even much promotion or networking on my part. Naturally, I spend a little more time promoting my work these days... But still, some of my best selling titles are those that were just put out there for the love of doing what I do. This will always be my highest motivation... and it has taught me a valuable lesson. Do what you love with love, and the rest will take care of itself.
